The fact is almost all of the hologram news you hear about today has nothing to do with the art & science of real holography and the production of true holograms.

Holography is a photographic process in which light is recorded as a wave instead of a particle. Laser light is split and recombined forming an interference pattern which contains all the three dimensional information of the original scene recorded. When reconstructed, a true 3D image is displayed, reflecting light in points of space exactly like the original object.

 

The results are pure magic.
